From waste to beautiful and functional design. In the exhibition Waste Wonderland, you will see leftover materials transformed into interior design – and discover potential in the unexpected.
What does a modern door look like, if it is made from discarded wood with knots? Can we celebrate rejected leather with wrinkles and scars? And what design possibilities lie in dented ceiling panels?
In the hands of established and emerging Danish designers and architects, Waste Wonderland explores how industrial leftover materials can be turned into beautiful and functional products.
In the exhibition, you can experience prototypes of furniture, lamps and interior pieces. And see the design process that raw concrete, smooth plastic and poetic textiles have gone through to emerge on the other side as new products.
Waste Wonderland is not just a visual experience. The exhibition challenges our perception of leftover materials, makes us see beauty in the unexpected – and inspires a more sustainable future.

Background
The exhibition presents selected prototypes from the research project 'ReshapeWaste', led by Aalborg University and Industriens Fond. The project tackles the 1.1 million tons of industrial waste generated annually in Denmark by asking the question: Can design be one of the keys to utilizing the (leftover) materials that would otherwise go to waste?
The research experiments have been created in collaboration between Danish designers and architects and a number of forward-thinking manufacturing companies that want to eliminate their waste.
