Questions and Answers

Here we continuously upload questions and answers about the architectural competition 'Wildlife looking for shelter'.

Is there any cost to participate in the architecture competition?
No, it is free to participate.
However, you will need to pay for postage if you choose to send your submission by mail instead of submitting it directly at one of the submission locations.

Can I participate in the competition if I graduated in the summer of 2022?
Unfortunately, you cannot participate in the competition if you graduated in the summer of 2022, as the requirement is that you must have graduated within the last 2 years at the time of submission. Graduates from the summer of 2023 are eligible to participate."

Is it allowed to participate in the competition for academic purposes, for example, by incorporating it into a final project?
Yes, there is no issue with the project being part of an academic project. However, it is important to be mindful of the competition's terms and conditions, particularly regarding anonymity –  the project must not be published (public) until after the winners are announced.

Should the "home" be presented as a 1:1 prototype, or is it acceptable to create, for example, a 1:50 scale model that shows how the solution would appear in the urban space?
The design task encourages that the model/prototype presents, among other things, its architectural qualities and how the functional needs of the wild animal(s) are reflected in the design (see evaluation criteria).
However, no specific scale requirements are defined, so for projects where it is deemed more meaningful to present the project in a different scale (than e.g. 1:1), that is possible. We recommend clearly indicating the scale in such cases

I am in my first year of my master's degree abroad, where I am completing my entire education. Can I participate in the competition?
Since a physical model needs to be submitted, the competition is primarily for Denmark-based individuals. However, if you otherwise belong to the described target group, you are welcome to participate in the competition (see competition terms).
